The Talking Gourd ,  is a Bardic , Eco-Arts,  nomadic Community, begun 25 years ago in the mountains of Telluride, Colorado, to embody and honor the teaching of Dolores La Chapelle, Deep ecologist,  Activist and doyenne of Earth Wisdom and Ritual.
We invite poets, writers, musicians, artists, story tellers, chefs, lovers of Beauty and this amazing Planet, to  gather for a week at the Farm, in a milagro of birds and butterflies,  to speak and sing our places alive to each other, to chant, and drum and talk….to dream and rest and wonder….to hike and wildcraft…praise and play….& ALWAYS!!!
to feast on delicious food:  just-made tortillas, exotic fruits, fresh juices, farmraised meats, local vegetables – all the delights of local cuisine – including our divine baking:  from-the-oven biscuits,  brownies, cookies, and breads….
Talking Gourd South coincides with the San Miguel Writer’s Conference, 2/19-23 (www.Sanmiguelwritersconference.org) Combine our gathering  with in-town literary festivities – featuring Barbara Kingsolver, whose newest novel, The Lacuna, 
centers on the Mexican Revolution & stars Frida, Diego & Trotsky! –

Explore magical San Miguel de Allende, an international Artist’s Community for 60 years: amazing Hot Springs, heart-stirring arts, crafts, Mercados, cobblestone streets….such a wealth of spirited beauty  in our ancient, flower-filled city….! What fun!!
Gather nightly for Gourd Circle, a Circle that will be shared with writers,
both local and from all over the world, attending the Conference…
The gourd will passed, and each will have a turn to be heard…to read their work, to sing, to speak…
Sunday night we shall be hosting the SM Writer’s Conference at the Farm… for
“Pigs in Heaven”…A Carnitas & Gourd Fest!

We offer a range of indoor/outdoor lodging, and bounteous, scrumptious meals are included.

Simple Choice Farm is the exhilarating blossom of a collaboration between Judyth Hill and Michael Mckenna, both chocolatiers, one a poet, author, and baker, one a confectioner, author, and painter, both chefs.
